As ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) has become a global consensus and universal value, the BenQ Group, in collaboration with its fleet partners, has achieved remarkable results in the ESG field. For instance, Qisda was selected for the first time in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook 2024 and honored as one of the top 5% companies globally. Since 2022, the BenQ Foundation has been continuously enhancing the sustainability knowledge and competitiveness of the group’s employees and supply chain partners through the Sustainability Action Workshop platform. In 2024, it partnered with the Taiwan Sustainable Energy Research Foundation (TAISE) to launch the second phase of the "Sustainability Manager Certification Training Program" and introduced the "Net Zero Manager Certification Training Program" for the first time.
The two training programs cover systematic learning in ESG and net zero carbon emissions, combining practical case studies with certification assessments. Ultimately, 62 employees obtained the Sustainability Manager Certificate, and 38 employees passed the Net Zero Manager Certification. The certification ceremony for the "BenQ Group – Sustainability and Net Zero Managers" was held on January 17 at the Hushan Innovation Park in Taoyuan City, officially recognizing these employees. This symbolizes the group’s solid talent pool in the sustainability field and lays a strong foundation for future sustainable development.
Cultivating Sustainability and Net Zero Professionals: Collaborating with Fleet Members for Mutual Benefit
The ceremony was co-hosted by Qisda’s Chief Sustainability Officer, Danny Lin , and TAISE Executive Committee Member, Jiang Hui-yung. The certified participants came from 26 companies within the group, covering departments responsible for ESG-related work, including sustainability units, environmental safety and health, human resources, R&D, finance, procurement, and public relations.
The "Sustainability Manager Certification Training Program" lasts for 10 weeks, totaling 80 hours of courses, covering five major modules: "International Trends and Responses," "International Sustainability Standards and Initiatives," "International Sustainable Corporate Benchmarks and Practical Promotion," "Sustainable Finance and Investment," and "Practical Case Studies in Corporate Sustainability." The aim is to equip employees with the ability to translate professional knowledge into practical ESG skills. The "Net Zero Manager Certification Training Program," on the other hand, focuses on topics such as "Global Net Zero Trends," "Domestic Net Zero Regulations and Policies," "Supply Chain Carbon Management," and "Greenhouse Gas Emission Standards and Practices," with a 38-hour intensive training course designed to enhance employees' planning and execution capabilities for net zero action plans. All participants must pass rigorous assessments to ensure the application of what they have learned. Obtaining the certificate is not only the endpoint of learning but also the starting point for continuous improvement, encouraging employees to apply their course learnings in their work and life, sowing the seeds of sustainability for the group and society.
Deepening Talent Development and Sustainable Transformation: Moving Towards a Future of Human Rights and Equality
In his speech, Qisda's Chief Sustainability Officer, Danny Lin, encouraged employees to meet the group's goals of reducing supply chain carbon emissions by 30% by 2030, achieving full use of renewable energy by 2040, and reaching net zero emissions by 2050. He emphasized that sustainable actions have already begun and are gradually being implemented. He stressed that sustainability issues are constantly evolving, and corporate sustainable transformation must continue to strengthen, hoping that employees will work together to realize the group’s vision for sustainable development.
Jiang Hui-yung, Executive Committee Member of the Taiwan Sustainable Energy Research Foundation, expressed her sentiments that promoting sustainability often faces complex and challenging situations. Establishing a solid foundation of knowledge is crucial, and she hopes that all promotional efforts can adhere to their original intentions, concretely integrating ESG with business strategies to enhance corporate competitiveness and create a better future for society and the environment.
During the ceremony, Jiang Hui-yung was also invited to share insights on "From RBA to TISFD: Corporate Human Rights, Reducing Inequality, and Sustainable Development," delving into how TISFD (Taskforce on Inequality and Social-related Financial Disclosure) can change the risk management blueprint of corporate organizations. She encouraged companies to develop action plans that balance human rights and reduce inequality while promoting sustainable development, achieving long-term and sustainable management for the group, and expanding higher-level strategic vision and influence.
